Stop Motion Effects: Create a Holiday Fireplace

This tutorial will demonstrate the technique involved with creating a fireplace that you can use in your holiday films.

Remember, these videos aren't meant to tell you exactly how to create these effects, in fact, I encourage you to use this tutorial to come up with some of your own ways to create these effects. It will help your improvisation skills too.

Pieces That You Need

You will need an assortment of orange flames, cones, and dots.

1: No Fire

The first frame does not have any flames in it.

2: First Spark

Add a small orange dot where the fire is being lit.

3: Fire Grows

Replace the dot with an orange cone. Add two dots on either side of the cone.

4: Continues

Add a flame into the cone, and continues the action of replacing dots with cones and adding dots one each side.

5: Fire Almost Peaks

The motion continues until you reach the end of the fireplace.

6: ...

And continue.

5: Fire Peaks

Eventually all the pieces will have flames in them.

Movements

Using a very thin object, move the flames around lslightly in between frames so that he final product will have flames in motion.
